From paper towels and diapers to cleaning products and toiletries, we strive to find the most natural, eco-friendly products we can find to reduce our carbon footprint and do what’s best for our planet. Thankfully, getting eco-friendly clothing and activewear made from sustainable fabrics has become more common and easier to find.

We guarantee you’ll be drooling over your choice of fabrics and styles in this following guide.

  1. Bamboo vibes

Bamboo is a natural, soft and biodynamic material providing excellent wear and conformity to your body. Nothing feels better close to your skin and looks so fabulous too – just check out this range of bamboo underwear.  Bamboo is also one of the most sustainable textiles in the world. It’s incredibly fast growing and requires no pesticide.

The fact that bamboo requires no chemical additives to grow drastically minimises the toll of its production on the environment. When it comes to your underwear drawer, being sustainably stylish is so fantastically simple!

  1. Organic cotton chill

Cotton is a highly-breathable natural fiber that is great for everyday wear. It’s particularly appealing when the weather turns a little warmer. And, it’s even better when it’s organic! Instead of using chemicals to keep its production flourishing, farmers use crop rotation strategies instead. Farmers also compost rich soil to grow large quantities of the crop in a way that is both effective and more environmentally friendly. Look for organic cotton sweaters or a sweater made from an organic cotton blend.

  1. Tencel threads

You may not have heard of Tencel, but it’s something that should enter your radar as an eco-conscious consumer. This textile is also known as Lyocell and is composed of a human-made (yet, entirely natural) fiber It’s derived from the wood pulp of sustainable eucalyptus trees.

Production techniques employ nanotechnology and the closed-loop method to decompose and recover all emissions and solvents in a process that is entirely non-toxic. You can shop for some seriously stylish threads made from Tencel for a wardrobe with substance.

  1. Hemp hype

When it comes to fashion, Hemp is no longer just the preserve of Hippies. It’s an incredibly versatile fabric that (during the entire production and manufacturing process) requires zero toxic chemicals. It does require high-end technology to deliver the goods, but as they say: you get what you pay for! Hemp can be cool and edgy. Yet, always so easy to wear.

  1. Slay in Soy Silk

Soy silk may sound like just like your favorite kind of latte, but it’s actually a sustainable ‘wonder fabric’. Pioneered by Henry Ford in 1931, it’s first imaging was a textile made from spun soy fibers. It’s now commercially made from ‘okara’ (aka soy pulp) as a byproduct of tofu.

Whilst it’s still an emerging as a workable textile, soy silk is gaining popularity with conscious consumers worldwide – and, in particular, the vegan market. You can find some luxe examples of sustainable silk fashions online.

  1. Op-shop opportunity

One of the best ways to think sustainable when it comes to your wardrobe is to recycle. Giving preloved clothing a second chance at life is not only a way to express your unique style, it’s also about making the responsible choice for our planet.

It’s turning the tide on rampant consumerism and stemming the impact this makes on our environment. Op shops, garage sales, suitcases rummages and vintage fashion boutiques offer one-off finds and pieces to treasure.

Sustainable fashion not only looks good, it’s so good for our planet. With a range of textiles, styles, and methods to go about achieving a wardrobe packed with eco-friendly items, it’s so easy being green!
